WOMEN'S WATER POLO:  Maybe it was fitting for a contest that had the feel of an exhibition rather than a regular match. The Ventura College women's water polo team tied a team of VC alumnae 11-11 Saturday at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Lauren McCaslin led the current Pirates with three goals and an assist while Justine Legapasi and Jerilyn Hollis each scored twice. Cecily Loya recorded three steals on defense while Vanessa Vega had eight saves on the day.

Ventura (5-4-1) will host Los Angeles Pierce College on Wednesday Oct. 2 at 2:15pm at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Last season, the Brahmas ended the Pirates' three-year hold on the Western State Conference championship with a dramatic tournament final win over VC.
