WOMEN'S WATER POLO:  On the final day of the two-day Saddleback Invitational, the VC women's water polo team dropped a pair of matches Saturday in Mission Viejo. The Pirates lost to Grossmont 12-7 in their morning contest before bowing out 12-11 to Chaffey in their tournament finale. Lauren McCaslin and Cecily Loya each scored four times on the day while Jerilyn Hollis and Sarah Shah both totaled three goals. Goalie Vanessa Vega recorded 20 saves on the day for the Pirates (1-3).

Ventura 7, Grossmont 12
Hollis led the Ventura effort with three goals in the match while McCaslin scored twice. Loya and Scarlet Lund-Sidi each found the back of the net and Vega had 11 saves against the Griffins.

Ventura 6, Fullerton 17
VC's final match of the tournament was a tightly fought contest throughout. Shah and Loya scored three goals each while McCaslin and Ashley Runyon each netted a pair of scores. Christina Tellez also scored a goal while Vega recorded nine saves.

The Pirates will travel to the Chaffey Tournament in Rancho Cucamonga on Sept. 20-21 before hosting Cuesta in a Western State Conference match on Wednesday Sept. 25 at 2:15pm at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
