Pirate Volleyball Back in the Playoffs with Home Match

The VC volleyball team is back in the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs for 2024 and will host an opening round match on Saturday Nov. 23. The No. 15-seeded Pirates (15-9) will take on No. 18 Mt. San Jacinto (17-9) at 6:00 pm at the Athletic Event Center with the winner advancing to the second round at No. 2 San Diego Mesa on Tuesday Nov. 26. This is the fourth straight playoff appearance for Ventura and they have made the post-season in six of the past seven, and eight of the past 10 years.

Ventura fought through the ultra difficult Western State Conference North Division, finishing in a tie for third place with No. 7-seed Santa Barbara and behind No. 3 Moorpark and No. 4 Los Angeles Mission. The Pirates were 8-4 in conference play including victories over Santa Barbara and LA Mission.

Mt. San Jacinto, meanwhile, finished in a first place tie with San Bernardino Valley in the Inland Empire Conference, splitting two matches with the Wolverines. MSJC finished the regular season with a 17-9 overall record.

The Pirates and Eagles played each other on Sept. 6 with VC prevailing in a 3-0 sweep in the Pasadena Quad. The win ended a four-game skid for Ventura and turned around their season. The Pirates are 14-5 since their win over MSJC.

Admission prices for the game, set by the 3C2A, are $12 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Tickets are available for pre-purchase online at https://ventura.vbotickets.com/events.
