Pirates Bounce Back With Two Wins at Quad

The Pirate volleyball team bounced back from Wednesday's defeat with a pair of wins Friday at the Pasadena Quad. Ventura swept Citrus 25-13, 25-20, 25-9 in the morning before defeating Fullerton 25-22, 25-23, 25-13 in the afternoon match. Kylie Ibbotson led the way with 16 kills in the two contests and Alba Romanos Gracia recorded 11 winners on the day.

Ventura 3, Citrus 0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-9)

The Pirates made quick work of the Owls in the opener. Ibbotson and Romanos Gracia had eight and seven kills, respectively and Autumn Rojelio recorded 15 digs with five service aces and three assists. Liz Schalde handed out 13 assists and Talia Behrens had five blocks at the net. Kayla Murdoch hit a pair of aces. 

Ventura 3, Fullerton 0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-13)

Ventura claimed the second win of the day with a tougher-than expected result against the Hornets. Ibbotson led the way offensively again with another eight winners while Brianna Morrison and Makena Schaumloeffel each hit five kills. Murdoch, Romanos Gracia, Tabitha Greene and Behrens each recorded four kills in the match. Schalde distributed 17 assists and Rojelio had five service aces along with 21 digs.  Romanos Gracia contributed eight digs to the defensive effort and Morrison had six blocks, three solo.

VC (6-1) returns home on Wednesday Sept. 13 against Saddleback with the match beginning at 6:00 pm.
