Pirate Volleyball Dominant at Imperial Valley

Behind an 11-kill, seven-ace performance by Kayla Murdoch and 18 digs from Autumn Rojelio, the Pirate volleyball team dominated its 25-11, 25-5, 25-2 season-opening match at Imperial Valley Friday. Kylie Ibbotson recorded seven winners in the match and Makena Schaumloeffel hit eight services aces in the triumph over IVC.

VC was dominant from the start, winning the first set 25-12 before limiting Imperial to five points in the second and two winners in the third set.

The Pirate offense was on point as Ventura scored on 82 percent of their serves, including a 30 percent service ace percentage.

Jessica Eldridge contributed four kills to the effort while added three winners at the net.

Ventura will take on College of the Desert in Palm Desert on Saturday Aug. 26 before traveling to Pasadena on Wednesday Aug. 30.  The Pirates make their home debut against Orange Coast on Friday Sept. 1.
