The No. 4-ranked VC volleyball team traveled to San Luis Obispo on Friday, leaving Cuesta College with a 25-17, 25-12, 25-15 Western State Conference victory over the Cougars. The Pirates (15-1, 3-1) had a total team victory with 10 players recording a kill, nine defending with a dig, and seven assisting a score in the match. CCCCAA Female Athlete of the Month of September Nevada Knowles handed out 26 assists with eight digs and seven kills while Kayla Murdoch had 14 winners.

Averi Carter had a solid offensive day with nine kills while posting a .643 hitting percentage. She also recorded five service aces in the match. Autumn Rojelio Moreno led the defensive effort with 18 digs and Amelie Zubia and Carter had seven and six digs, respectively. Zubia also handed out 10 assists. Katey Mulville and Brianna Morrison each had four winners at the net.

Ventura next travels to Moorpark on Friday October 21 to begin the second round of conference play.
