Volleyball Back on Track at LA Pierce

The VC volleyball team got back on track Wednesday with a 25-7, 25-23, 25-16 sweep at Los Angeles Pierce College. Southern California's top-ranked team bounced back after their first loss of the season last Friday. Kayla Murdoch led the way with 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage and Katey Mulville recorded nine winners at .533. Nevada Knowles handed out 17 assists with five kills while Autumn Rojelio Moreno and Averi Carter each had nine digs.

Ventura (13-1, 2-1) was on point in the opening set, giving up just seven points to the Brahmas in the 25-7 win.

Pierce came back in the second set to make it a competitive 25-23 win for VC.

The Pirates were able to easily clinch the match with a 25-16 win in the final set.

Amelie Zubia and Rojelio Moreno each handed out five assists in the victory while Rojelio Moreno added three service aces.

VC has a bye this upcoming weekend before hosting Los Angeles Mission on Wednesday Oct. 12 at 6:00 pm.
