Sophomore Brooklyn Wallet (10) had six kills in the Pirates' conference opener at Moorpark Wednesday.

The Pirate volleyball team opened their conference season with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 loss at rival Moorpark College on Wednesday night. Morgan Gallagher had nine kills to lead Ventura (4-8, 0-1) while Brooklyn Wallet recorded six winners. Kassidy Wilson had 16 assists, 10 digs and three services aces in the match.
Leslie Perez led the defense with 12 digs while Raphaella Rosales had seven digs and four kills.
Ventura returns home Friday Sept. 27 with a non-conference match against Butte College. First serve is slated for 6:00 pm.
