VC volleyball freshman Faith Mackie has been named the State Player of the Week for Southern California by the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association. The libero from Foothill Tech High School has keyed the Pirates' back line all season, and her outstanding defense helped VC move into first place in the Western State Conference standings in the past week with a win over rival Moorpark College.
Mackie keyed the victory over Moorpark with 23 digs and a perfect 3.0 passer rating with 11 attempts against the Raiders. She followed that up with 29 digs and a 2.52 passer rating in 19 attempts as Ventura won its eighth consecutive match with a sweep at Glendale College on Friday.
