Pirates Cap Long Trip With Sweep of VVC

The long trip home was a good one for the Pirate volleyball team Wednesday. The team made the trek to Victorville to take on host Victor Valley College, coming home with a 25-23, 25-11, 25-21 sweep of the Rams. Morgan Gallagher led VC with 13 kills while Brooklyn Wallet had eight winners and two blocks. Gabby Boado handed out 21 assists with 10 digs and Faith Mackie anchored the defense with 22 digs for Ventura (5-2).

After a tight first set, a 25-23 Pirate win, VC opened things up in the second taking the set 25-11. Ventura closed out VVC with a 25-21 triumph in the third set.

Shantalle Ruiz and Janessa Simental each had six kills while Madeline Bolish recorded five with a .444 kill percentage. Raphaella Rosales had 17 assists and 10 digs in the match, the Pirates' fourth consecutive victory.

VC returns home on Friday Sept. 21 for a pair of matches against Northern California opponents, at 2:00 pm against Butte College, and at 6:00 pm against Cañada College.
