Brooklyn Wallet had 10 kills while Morgan Gallagher and Kasie Spencer each hit six point-winners as the Ventura College volleyball team swept past the Cal Lutheran JV's Friday at the Athletic Event Center. Gabby Boado and Raphaella Rosales passed out 17 and 15 assists, respectively as the No. 22-ranked Pirates (4-2) captured their third straight triumph.
The Pirates jumped out to an early five-point advantage and maintained it throughout most of the first set. The Regals came back to within 23-21 late, but VC scored the final two points for the 25-21 set win. In the second, CLU led early, but Ventura came back to take the 25-20 victory. VC dominated throughput the third set , taking the set and the match with a 25-10 score.
Boado added 10 digs to her game Friday while Faith Mackie led the defense with 15 digs. Madeline Bolish knocked home five point-winners with three service aces while Shantalle Ruiz and Kayla Hosch each had four kills in the balanced Pirate attack. Gallagher also recorded three service aces in the match.
VC will travel to Victor Valley College on Wednesday Sept. 19 before hosting Butte and Cañada on Friday Sept. 21 at 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm, respectively.
