The Pirate volleyball team traveled to Bakersfield Friday night, falling to the host Renegades 25-17, 25-22, 25-14. Caryssa Castrejon had six kills and 13 digs for Ventura while Taylor Benitez-Fanslow recorded eight kills and four blocks.
Daisy Martinez had 11 assists for the Pirates (9-7) while Danielle Garcia handed out nine helpers. Jordan Neria recorded 11 digs in the match and Madeline Bolish had four kills.
Ventura opens Western State Conference North Division play on Wednesday Oct. 11 at Cuesta before hosting Santa Barbara on Friday Oct. 13.
