Spikers Take Two at Victor Valley Quad

The Pirate volleyball team traveled to Victorville on Friday, sweeping a pair of matches in the Victor Valley Quad. VC defeated Mt. San Jacinto in their first match of the day, 25-23 25-19 20-25 25-20, before posting another four-set winner over Cerro Coso, 25-20 23-25 25-11 25-12. Braxton Jessie led the Pirates at the net with 36 kills while Danielle Garcia handed out 63 assists on the day.

Ventura 3, Mt. San Jacinto 1 (25-23 25-19 20-25 25-20)
Taylor Benitez-Fanslow turned in 18 kills as the Pirates won their first match of the day. Jessie recorded 17 winners and 25 digs while Garcia had 32 assists against the Eagles.

Ventura 3, Cerro Coso 1 (25-20 23-25 25-11 25-12)
Jessie turned in another solid performance with 19 kills, 22 digs and six service aces. Benitez-Fanslow turned in 10 kills and Garcia handed out 31 assists.

The Pirates (4-0) will travel to Mt. San Antonio on Wednesday Sept. 6 before returning home on Friday Sept. 8 to host Golden West at 2:00 pm.
