Following up perhaps their best outing of the year a week ago in Santa Barbara, the Pirate volleyball team fell to defeat in straight sets at Moorpark Friday night. The Raiders captured the match 25-10, 25-22, 25-16 at Raider Pavilion. Jessica Gomez had seven kills for VC (8-13, 2-2) and Rachel Howery and Mikayla Spears had 12 and 11 assists, respectively.
Sariah Flores led the defense with 15 digs in the match. Armonee Hunter recorded five blocks and Brianna Finch had four kills. Braxton Jessie had four kills and four digs while Kierra Joyner had six digs.
The Pirates end the first round of Western State Conference play in the middle of the pack at 2-2. They begin second round action on Wednesday Nov. 2 at home against Allan Hancock College. The match with the Bulldogs begins at 7:00 pm at the Athletic Event Center.
