Volleyball Drops a Heartbreaking 5-Set Match at Fullerton Quad

The Ventura College volleyball team continued its tour of Southern California in Orange County Saturday at the Fullerton College Quad.  The Pirates lost a 5-set heartbreaker to the host Hornets in the first match of the day before falling in three to Golden West in the second.  Paris Dosch had 26 kills on the day while Mikayla Spears contributed 40 assists in the two contests for VC (4-5).

Ventura had control early and had two match points in the third set up 24-22.  Fullerton came back, however to take the third and followed that up with two more set wins to take the match in a heartbreaker for the Pirates.  Dosch put down 21 kills for VC and Brianna Finch recorded 13.  Rachel Howery handed out 28 assists and Spears had 27 helpers.  Sariah Flores defended with 14 digs while Spears put up 10 digs defensively.  Dosch also contributed four blocks.

Playing their third match inside of 24 hours, the Pirates could not muster a close set in the sweep. Dosch had five kills offensively and Spears recorded 13 assists.  Flores posted 10 digs and Dosch had three service aces.  Armonee Hunter had three blocks at the net for VC.

Ventura continues the tour Wednesday Sept. 14 at the Pasadena CIty College Quad.  Ventura will take on Mt. San Jacinto at 4;00 pm before battling the host Lancers at 7:00 pm.  The Pirates return home against Mt. San Antonio on Friday Sept. 16 at 7;00 pm.
