Spikers Move to 5-0 With Two Victories at Quad

The Ventura College volleyball team moved its record to 5-0 with  a pair of sweeps at the Pierce College Quad in Woodland Hills Saturday.  VC (5-0) defeated Glendale 25-18, 25-15, 25-21 before downing Butte College 25-23, 25-15, 25-20.  Brittney Mukhar led the Pirates with 21 kills on the day and Mikayla Spears handed out 27 assists in the two matches.

Mukhar and Tori Hiott each recorded 10 kill sto lead to the victory, with Paris Dosch contributing nine. Hiott also had eight digs, two blocks and an ace.  Jaimelene Salgado handed out 21 assists with a pair of aces, while Spears had 18 assists.  Cassandra Lacanilao also had eight digs for VC.  

Ventura 3, Butte 0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-20)
Mukhar had 11 kills with three aces and Dosch registered 10 kills with a block and two aces. Lacanilao had 13 digs while Spears dished out 19 assists.  Armonee Hunter had eight kills in the match, as well, against the Northern California opponent.

The Pirates seek to continue their hot start at the San Diego Mesa Tournament on Sept. 11-12. They next play at home Friday Sept. 18, hosting the VC Pirate Classic Quad.
