In an evenly matched contest, the Pirate volleyball team came out with a 3-1 decision over Los Angeles Mission College Friday at the Athletic Event Center.  VC (9-7, 3-3) defeated the Eagles 25-18, 20-25, 25-19, 25-22 to snap a two-match losing streak.  

The Pirates pulled away midway through the first set, turning in a 25-18 win.  They got down to the Eagles big in the second, trailing 21-10 before making it ra respectable 25-20 loss.

The Pirates took control with a 25-19 win in the third before surviving a hard-fought fourth set, 25-22 for the victory.

Tori Hiott led the way for Ventrua with 12 kills and 10 digs.  Kirra Drury had nine kills and three aces while Cassandra Lacanilao picked up 20 digs with four aces.  Shelby Stanger handed out 33 assists with three aces.

The Pirates close a four-match homestand with the beginning of the second round of Western State Conference play on Wednesday Oct. 29.  the will host Cuesta College at 7:00 pm before headed to Woodland hills to play Pierce College on Friday Oct. 31.
