As the turn-around season continues, the Pirate volleyball team defeated the California Lutheran JV team in three sets Friday night at the Athletic Event Center. Mehgan Lambert continued her strong offensive play with 13 kills to lead VC (4-1).
The Pirates raced to a big lead early, holding on in the first set 25-23. They prevailed in the second 25-21 before closing out the match 25-20.
Tori Hiott had eight kills while Shelby Stanger handed out 31 assists. Cassandra Lacanilao had 21 digs and three aces for Ventura.
The Pirates travel to Gelndale on Wednesday Sept. 17 before heading to Orange County to take on Fullerton on Friday Sept. 19. They will return home on Friday Sept. 26 against Canyons at 7:00 pm.
