VC Volleyball Adds Sabine Stork to Coaching Staff

The Ventura College women's volleyball program is pleased to announce that respected long-time coach Sabine Stork is joining the squad as an assistant under head coach Brad Lyans.

The matriarch of one of the most recognizable family names in the volleyball world—as wife of USA Olympic Gold medalist and current CSUN Head's Women's Coach Jeff Stork, with two children competing collegiately and another playing professionally overseas—Sabine is a legendary figure in her own right. A standout player for Taft High School in the San Fernando Valley, she went on to win an NCAA National Championship as a member of the 1983 Cal State Northridge Women's Volleyball Team.

Sabine followed the culmination of her successful playing career with a headlong dive into coaching—and swiftly found another area in which to excel. She has coached for several renowned high school programs in her time, most notably Francis Parker of San Diego, where as Varsity Girls Head Coach in the late 1980's she won back-to-back CIF Championships.

She spent several seasons as the Head Varsity Girls Coach at Louisville High School, where she sent a plethora of graduates off to great collegiate success. Sabine is also one of the most valuable and treasured assistant coaches of the Los Angeles Volleyball Academy (LAVA), where she has worked for several years alongside Brad and captured a pair of Volleyball Festival National Championships.

Ventura College is thrilled to have Sabine on board with us and welcomes her wholeheartedly into the fold. For those who wish to welcome Sabine personally, you may contact her directly at sstork@vcccd.edu.

The Women's Volleyball season kicks off Friday, August 29, on the road against Imperial Valley.
