VOLLEYBALL:  In their continuing tour of ranked non-conference oppoennts, the Ventura College volleyball team fell in straight sets at No. 18 Cypress College Wednesday evening, 11-25, 26-28, 11-25. Team captain Jasmine Perez led VC (1-7) with five service aces on the evening while Kirra Drury and Mehgan Lambert recorded six and five kills, respectively. Setter Dana Cleavenger handed out 24 assists and libero Sarah Veloz recovered from hurling herself into the bleachers early in the match to pass at an impressive 2.53 rate.

A touch night for the Pirates will not break their spirit, however, as they will travel to No. 23 Canyons on Friday Sept. 27 for a 6:00 pm match.
