VC's Bella Moga qualified for the 3C2A State Championships in singles play Thursday at the Western State Conference Championships at the VC Tennis Center. VC's No. 3 player upset the draw's No. 5 seed in a super tiebreaker to move into the Round of 16 and secure her spot at The Ojai later this month.

Moga came from behind to defeat her opponent from Antelope Valley 3-6, 6-0, 10-5 in her first match of the day to earn one of the conference's 17 qualifying sports for state.

In her second match, Moga dropped a respectable 6-4, 6-4 decision to the No. 6-seed from Bakersfield, narrowly missing the quarterfinal round.

Meanwhile, Alexis Schmidt, the No. 7-seed in the draw, was upset in a super-tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-1, 13-11, forcing her in to the back draw with 15 other players fighting for the WSC's final spot in The Ojai.

Play in the WSC Championships was delayed by rain later in the day Thursday, forcing a full schedule Friday April 5 and Saturday April 6 to complete the draw. The Ojai will be held April 25-28.
