VC Takes Win Over LA Mission at Home

The Ventura College women's tennis team captured a 6-3 victory over Los Angeles Mission College Tuesday a month after falling to the Eagles in San Fernando by the same score. Alexis Schmidt and Nicole Iannacone won their doubles match before each won in singles to anchor the Pirate win while Beryllyn Paz and Chrystelle Aguiar were down 5-3 in doubles before coming back to post a 9-7 triumph.

Schmidt and Iannacone won in No. 1 doubles 8-6 before Aguiar and Paz performed their comeback in the No. 3 slot to give Ventura a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.

Bella Moga put the Pirates ahead 3-1 with her love and one win in No. 3 singles before Iannacone won her No. 2 singles match, 7-5, 7-5. LAMC attempted a comeback with a win at No. 4 singles against Aguiar, but Schmidt clinched the victory for VC with a 6-0, 6-4 triumph in No. 1 singles. Mission won at No. 6 singles over Paz in a close match, 5-7, 6-3, 12-10, and Bella DeRosa finished the day with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory in the No. 5 slot. 

The Pirates (6-7, 4-6) next travel to Santa Clarita to take on College of the Canyons on Thursday March 14 before hosting Orange Coast on Friday March 15.
