Pirates Claim Third Straight 1-Point Victory

The VC women's tennis team continued their early-season roll Friday, claiming their third straight one-point victory with a 5-4 decision at Mt. San Antonio in Walnut. Bella Moga, Bella DeRosa and Chrystelle Aguiar all posted triumphs in singles and doubles, with Aguiar clinching the match in her No. 5 singles contest.

Ventura (3-0, 1-0) jumped out to the early advantage winning two of the three doubles matches. Moga and DeRosa swept their No. 2 slot, 8-0, while Aguiar and Beryllyn Paz won the No. 3 match-up 8-3.

In singles play, DeRosa put VC ahead 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 before the Mounties claimed the No. 1 match. Moga then posted a hard fought 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (10-3) triumph in No. 3 singles. Mt. SAC came back with wins at Nos. 2 and 6 setting up Aguiar's match-clinching 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.

The Pirates will next continue Western State Conference play on Tuesday Feb. 13 at Los Angeles Mission College in Sylmar.
