The VC women's tennis season came to a close Saturday as the doubles team of Talia Lieb and Nell Elaerts fell in the CCCAA State Doubles quarterfinals at The Ojai Tournament.
The Ventrua pair, seeded No. 5 from SoCal, dropped the first set against the SoCal No. 2-seed from LA Mission 6-4 before battling back to capture the second in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-4).
In the super tiebreaker, the Pirate duo fell 10-8 in an outstanding effort.
The pair also had a strong finish in singles play on Friday with Elaerts advancing to the Round of 32 and Lieb moving into the Round of 16.
