Nguyen, McClain Earn All-WSC Honors

Elizabeth Nguyen and Alyssa McClain have earned All-Western State Conference honors for the Pirates' women's tennis team with their play during the 2022 season. The pair received first team awards in Nos. 4 and 5 singles, respectively, and also as a duo in No. 3 doubles, as selected by the conference coaches.

Nguyen, a freshman, was 9-0 in the No. 4 slot in conference play, and added a 2-1 record at No. 3, to earn her first team All-WSC honors. The Oxnard High School product was 12-3 overall on the season individually.

McClain, a Foothill Tech alumna, produced a 6-0 record in WSC play at No. 5 and a 9-1 overall singles record in conference play. The second-year freshman was 9-3 on the year in singles matches for the Pirates. 

As a doubles, team, the pair were 5-1 in the WSC after teaming up for the first time midway through the season. They had an overall record of 8-3, advancing to the conference semifinals and qualifying for the Southern California Regionals.
