Women's Tennis Ends Season at SoCal Regionals

Ventura's Hanna Dever fell one victory short of advancing to the CCCAA State Championships in both singles and doubles Friday and Saturday at Cypress College. She produced one victory in singles play before bowing out of the draw, and also teamed up with Victoria Zegers in doubles to pull out a win before falling one step short of state.

The Pirates' women's tennis team had their 2022 season come to an end on Saturday at the Southern California Regionals at Cypress College. VC's doubles team of Hanna Dever and Victoria Zegers dropped their match against a duo from Grossmont to close the season one victory shy of a berth in the CCCAA State Championships. Dever also fell one win short in singles play on Friday.

Early Friday, VC's duo of Elizabeth Nguyen and Alyssa McClain dropped their regional opener to a team from El Camino, 6-0, 6-1.

Dever and Zegers advanced to their Saturday match with a 6-4, 1-6, 10-8 victory over a team from Riverside. 

In singles play, Dever won her first match of the day 6-1, 6-0 over an opponent from Southwestern College before falling in the match to qualify for state 6-2, 6-3 to a player from Saddleback.

A total of eight singles players and eight doubles teams from Southern California advanced to the CCCAA State Championships to be held May 5-6 at Mt. San Antonio College.
