2020 Women's Tennis Review

The Pirates' women's tennis team was progressing in what could have been a memorable March and April when the coronavirus pandemic prematurely ended the 2020 season. Freshman Sylvie Van Cott was undefeated at No. 1 singles with an 11-0 record, and she also had a strong doubles year going with partner Aline Rojas. Meanwhile, others were also having solid seasons for VC when the CCCAA sports world stood still.

Van Cott, the team's Most Valuable Player, dominated her competition, winning 134 games in 22 sets, all victories, against just 24 lost games. She was on her way to one of the all-time great seasons in Pirate history when the competition abruptly shut down.  Van Cott was also 8-2 in No. 1 doubles with Rojas, who also amassed a 7-4 mark at No. 2 singles. Allison Jones was 6-4 at No. 3 singles, while Isabella DeRosa and Denissa Garcia each evened their season singles marks before play was suspended.

Dee Imami and DeRosa were named the team's Scholar Athletes with perfect 4.0 efforts in the classroom.
