Allison Jones won a close three-set thriller in No. 3 singles to give the Pirates' women's tennis team a 5-4 victory at Glendale College on Thursday afternoon. Jones also won in No. 3 doubles with partner Dee Emami and Sylvie Van Cott was also a double winner for Ventura (5-4, 3-4). Isabella DeRosa's victory in No. 6 singles provided another point in the Pirate win.
Van Cott and Aline Rojas won their No. 1 doubles contest 8-4 and Jones and Emami claimed the No. 3 doubles match 8-2 for a 2-1 Pirate lead heading into singles play.
Van Cott was dominant in her No. 1 singles match with a one and love triumph and DeRosa posted a 6-1, 6-2 win in No. 6 singles. Denissa Garcia lost a three-set decision at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 before Jones outlasted her opponent in No. 3 singles, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 to win the match for Ventura.
VC hosts San Diego City College on Friday March 6 for a 2:00 pm non-conference match before hosting College of the Canyons on Tuesday March 10.
