On another picture perfect day on the Central Coast, the Pirates' women's tennis team swept visiting Saddleback 9-0 Friday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center. Dee Emami did not lose a game all day, winning her No. 6 singles match love and love, and pairing with Allison Jones to win in No. 3 doubles, 8-0. Jones also won in No. 3 singles. Sylvie Van Cott remained undefeated with a love and love win at No. 1 singles for the Pirates (4-2, 2-2).
Jones and Emami completed their shutout in No. 3 doubles before Van Cott and Aline Rojas won in No. 1 doubles, 8-2. Tanya Thompson and Denissa Garcia made it 3-0 with their 8-1 win at the No. 2 slot.
In doubles, Emami was first to finish once again, and Van Cott followed soon thereafter, both posting 6-0, 6-0 victories. Jones won at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1, and Rojas prevailed in the No. 2 slot, 6-1, 6-1. Isabella DeRosa finished off her opponent at No. 5, 6-2, 6-0, and Garcia completed the sweep with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 4.
VC returns to the courts on Thursday Feb. 20 at home against Santa Monica. Doubles play is set to begin at 2:00 pm.
