The VC women's tennis team shut out host Antelope Valley 9-0 Tuesday afternoon in Lancaster. Alyssa Powell, Allie De Marco and Keressa Garland all had love, love matches in singles while Garland and Tricia McClain did not drop a game in doubles for the Pirates (9-7, 7-4).
Powell had the shutout in No. 2 singles while De Marco prevailed at No. 3. Garland won her love, love match at No. 5. Lea Meschke triumphed at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1 while Jule Lauinger won her No. 4 singles match, 6-2, 6-1. McClain continued her dominance at the No. 6 slot, winning 6-1, 6-0.
Powell and De Marco won in No. 1 doubles, 8-3 while Meschke and Lauinger prevailed at No. 2 doubles, 8-1. Garland and McClain had their shutout at no. 3 doubles.
The Pirates have matches scheduled throughout the coming week, next on Wednesday March 21 at Canyons, then on Thursday March 22 at home against Santa Monica, finally on Friday March 23 at San Diego Mesa.
