VC Women's Tennis Sweeps Past Victor Valley

On a sunny and cool spring day, the Pirates' women's tennis team swept past a shorthanded Victor Valley team 9-0 Thursday at the VC Tennis Center. Ventura (8-7, 6-4) was able to play eight different players, four in singles and four in doubles, with all coming away with victories against the visiting Rams.

The Pirates' top four singles players had no trouble against their opponents, with all of them posting love, love wins. Lea Meschke was tops in the No. 1 slot while Alyssa Powell won at No. 2. Allie De Marco prevailed in No. 3 and Jule Lauinger triumphed in No. 4 singles.  VC won the Nos. 5 and 6 slots by default.

In doubles, Keressa Garland and Tricia McClain claimed No.1, 8-4 while Leila Esmaili and Chelsea Carmichael won at No. 2, 8-5.

Ventura begins four straight days of tennis with a Western State Conference match at Antelope Valley on Tuesday March 20.
