VC Closes Out North/South Challenge Against Chabot

The Ventura College women's tennis team closed out the VC North/South Challenge with a 6-3 loss to Chabot College Saturday at the VC Tennis Center. Lea Meschke and Jule Lauinger earned a victory i their No. 2 doubles match while Alyssa Powell and Allie De Marco each had wins in their Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively for the Pirates (4-3, 2-1).

Meschke and Lauinger earned VC's only victory in doubles play, outlasting their opponents 9-8. The Pirates trailed 2-1 heading into singles competition.

Powell won her No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-2, and De Marco prevailed 6-3, 6-2.  Ventura could not muster any other victories, however, and fell to the Gladiators, 6-3.

Ventura returns to Western State Conference action on Tuesday Feb. 20, hosting Antelope Valley at the VC Tennis Center at 2:00 pm.
