Third VC Women's Doubles Team Qualifies for Ojai

The Pirates' women's doubles team of Allie De Marco and Luciana Muheison joined VC's other two doubles pairs in qualifying for the CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai Tournament on day two of the Western State Conference Championships Saturday. Meanwhile, Bailey Sindle and Lea Meschke qualified for The Ojai in singles play, wrapping up a full weekend of tennis.

De Marco and Muheison won their contest in the backdraw of the tournament 8-4 against a duo from Bakersfield. 

In the quarterfinals of the doubles competition, the VC teams of Sindle and Meschke and Megan Fleming and Alyssa Powell both dropped their matches, but had already qualified for the state championships by advancing to the quarters on Friday.

In singles play, Sindle lost her first match of the day in the round of 16 to a player from Santa Monica and Meschke lost in the same round to an opponent from Bakersfield.  Sindle defeated her foe from Glendale in the backdraw 6-4, 6-0 to qualify for The Ojai in singles while Meschke defeated an opponent from Santa Monica, 6-4, 6-4.

The Pirate women will not see action when the WSC Championships conclude on Friday April 14 in Ventura, but will return to action at The Ojai Tournament beginning Thursday April 27.
