The desert was dry Tuesday, and the Pirates were hot. Ventura had a solid effort sweeping the host Antelope Valley College Marauders 9-0 in women's tennis on the road in conference action. Bailey Sindle, Megan Fleming, Lea Meschke and Alyssa Powell all posted victories for the Pirates (2-1, 1-1) in singles action.
Sindle won in the No. 1 slot 6-2, 6-0, while Fleming was victorious at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1. Meschke won in No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1, and Powell won in No. 4 singles love and love. VC defeated AVC by default in Nos. 5 and 6 singles.
In doubles, Sindle and Meschke blanked their opponents in No. 1 singles 8-0, and Allie De Marco and Luciana Muheison won in the No. 2 slot, 8-1. VC won the No. 3 position by default.
