Mariko Sagara won her quarterfinal match Saturday at the Western State Conference Championships in Ventura. The top-seed in the draw advanced love and love and will play in the conference semifinals, and hopefully finals on Friday April 8 beginning at 12:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.
Sagara and doubles partner Jessica Powell split a pair of matches in the doubles tournament, winning a quarterfinal 8-1 before falling in the semifinals. The duo qualified for the state championships at The Ojai Tournament April 21-24.
Meanwhile, Powell could not qualify for state in singles, falling in a back draw match.
Pirate doubles teams of Theresa Doal and Tricia McClain, and Jia Wiebe and Megan Fleming also had their season come to an end in the back draw, finishing one victory away from qualifying for The Ojai.
The WSC Championships will conclude on Friday April 8 at the VC Tennis Center.
