Traveling north to Santa Barbara the Ventura College women's tennis team fell 5-4 to SBCC in a WSC match up. Ventura was able to claim two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 doubles of Mariko Sagara and Jessica Powell claimed a 8-5 win. Jia Wiebe and Megan Fleming were 9-8 winner at No. 2 doubles.
Ventura (5-7, 4-3) was able to dominate the doubles side of the match, but they lost four of the six singles contests which ultimately lead to their loss. VC had winner in No. 1 singles Sagara by a score of 6-4, 6-1. Wiebe was a winner at No. 3 singles in straight sets with scores of 6-1, 6-4. These were the only sets the Pirates won on the singles side as they dropped the other four contests.
Ventura will face off on Saturday. Mar. 12 against San Diego Mesa in a make up of a rain out from Saturday Mar. 5, the contest is set to begin at 11:00 am. On Tuesday Mar. 15 VC will travel to Glendale for a 2:00 pm WSC match.
