Women's Tennis Earns Dominant WSC Win

The Ventura College women's tennis team played host to Antelope Valley in a Western State Conference match up and picked up a 8-1 win. VC swept doubles play lead by the team of Mariko Sagara and Jessica Powell with an 8-1 win in No. 1 doubles. Jia Wiebe and Megan Fleming earned a 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles the team of Theresa Doal and Tricia McClain won by a score of 8-5.

Ventura (5-6, 4-2) used their hot start in doubles play to propel them to a dominant showing in singles play, as well. Sagara is the current Ventura College student-athlete of the week and continued her hot play with a straight sets win at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-0. Wiebe was a straight sets winner at No. 3 singles and Fleming was also a winner at No. 4 singles in straight sets. Audrey Karbum played solely at No. 5 singles and was a winner in three sets. Doal was a straight sets winner at No. 6 singles.

Ventura started the year at 0-3, but has rebounded to win five of their next eight matches and has been stellar in WSC play. VC travels to Santa Barbara City College on Thursday Mar. 10 for a 2:00 pm WSC match.
