The Ventura College women's tennis team travels to Santa Monica and scores a 6-3 win, their second Western State Conference win of the season. Theresa Doal was a winner at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Mariko Sagara picked up wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles. Sagara and Doal did not allow a point in singles play.
Ventura (3-5, 2-2) came out strong setting the one in doubles play by winning two of three matches for an early 2-1 advantage. VC then claimed four of the six total singles contests for a 6-3 win.
Sagara teamed up with Jessica Powell in the No. 1 doubles contest for a 8-4 win. While the Pirates dropped the No. 2 doubles contest, Doal and Tricia McClain claimed No. 3 doubles by a score of 8-1.
Sagara then won her No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0. But, Powell fell in No. 2 singles in straight sets. Jia Wiebe was able to pick up a straight sets win at No. 3 singles. Audrey Karbum and Doal won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Ventura is back on the road on Friday Feb. 26 for a 2:00 pm contest against Saddleback College. They will return to WSC play on Tuesday Mar. 1 with a road trip to Bakersfield College for a 2:00 pm contest.
