Pirates Women Tennis Falls at Riverside

Ventura College women's tennis team opened their 2016 team by traveling to Riverside College and were defeated 9-0. The Pirates were able to put forth a great effort on the doubles side of the match, but just were not able to overcome the Tigers.

Starting their year off with a road match up against the Orange Empire Conference power Riverside Ventura had their hands full. On the doubles side of the match the team of Megan Fleming and Jia Wiebe were able to push the their counterparts from RCC to a 9-7 match, but just were unable to come out on top. Audrey Karbum and Jessica Powell fell 8-5 in their doubles match up, as well.

The Pirates singles were over matched by the Tigers over the course of the day. Unable to win a set VC fell in straight sets in each of the six matches.

Ventura (0-1) will play again on Friday Feb. 12 in the Ventura College North/South Challenge. Then again on Saturday Feb. 13 they will participate in day two of the VC North/South Challenge.
