The Pirates' women's tennis team gave it a valiant fight, but they were unable to upend conference leading Glendale College, falling 6-3 to the Vaqueros Tuesday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center. Yannick Garcia (No. 2), Bailey Sindle (No. 3) and Jia Wiebe (No. 4) all had singles victories for Ventura.
Garcia won her singles match by a score of 6-4, 6-2, while Sindle also won in straight sets, 7-6, 6-1. Wiebe came from behind to win in three sets, 1-6, 6-2, 6-1.
VC will look to get back on the winning track on Thursday March 19 at Santa Monica. Singles matches will begin at 2:00 pm.
