Women's Tennis Back on Winning Track

The Ventura College women's tennis team completed the first round of Western State Conference play with a dominating 9-0 win over visiting Bakersfield College Tuesday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center.  In nine matches, six singles and three doubles, the Pirates lost just three games the entire afternoon in the win.

Yannick Garcia prevailed in No. 1 singles while Jia Wiebe won in No. 2 singles.  Katy Scheck was victorious in No. 3 singles and Bailey Sindle posted a victory in No. 4 singles.  Meanwhile Candace Nito won in No. 5 singles and Chelsea Peterson won No. 6 singles.

In doubles, Garcia and Sindle, Wiebe and Scheck, and Nito and Cristina Ortiz all posted big victories.

The Pirates will next host Cerritos College on Friday March 5 at 1:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.
