W Tennis Ends Year at Ojai

WOMEN'S TENNIS:  The Ventura College women's tennis team ended its season with participation in the CCCAA State Championships held over the weekend in conjunction with The Ojai Tournament. The doubles team of Yannick Garcia and Jessica Moore had VC's deepest run in the draw, advancing to the round of 32 before falling to the #3-seeded duo from Diablo Valley in a 3-set thriller. Georgia Farrar and Karissa Coronell along with Lela Faasua and Dania Huacuja also played in doubles on day one of the tournament and Garcia made the round of 64 in singles.

Garcia and Moore came into the draw unseeded, but almost made the sweet 16. They won their first match on Thursday 6-0, 6-1 over a team from San Francisco City College before upsetting the #14-seed fro Riverside, 6-4, 6-3. Their tournament came to an end on Friday morning in the 3-set match against the No. 3 seed.

In singles, Garcia won her first match 6-1, 6-0 over an opponent from Grossmont before dropping a 6-3, 6-3 decision to the No. 16-seed from Orange Coast.
