WTennis Advances at WSC

WOMEN'S TENNIS:  With team competition complete, the Ventura College women's tennis team began competing as individuals on day one of the Western State Conference Singles and Doubles Championships Friday at the VC Tennis Center. Yannick Garcia punched a ticket to the CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai Tournament and into the WSC quarterfinals with a pair of victories while the doubles team of Garcia and Jessica Moore qualified for state with a victory in the round of 16, advancing to the conference quarterfinals.

Moore stayed alive for a state berth in singles with a win in the round of 32 and a loss in the round of 16. She will need to win two more matches to claim one of the WSC's 10 spots in the state championships. Meanwhile the doubles teams of Georgia Farrar and Carissa Coronel, and Lela Faasua and Dania Huacuja both lost their initial matches, forcing them into the back draw, needing two more wins to advance to The Ojai.

Play in the WSC Championships continues on Saturday April 5 at the VC Tennis Center, with the conclusion coming on Friday April 11.
