WOMEN'S TENNIS: Playing for the second consecutive day, the Pirates' women's tennis team split a pair of matches to finish up the VC North/South Challenge Saturday at the VC Tennis Center. Ventura defeated Chabot 6-3 in the morning before falling to Fresno City College 5-2 in the afternoon match. Karissa Coronel and Georgia Farrar combined to win both of their No. 3 doubles matches on the day, with Farrar also winning her No. 5 singles against Chabot. Yannick Garcia, Jessica Moore and Brianna Ruton all won singles matches in the morning contest.
VC (2-2) will open Western State Conference play at Antelope valley College in Tuesday Feb. 18 before coming home against Santa Barbara on Thursday Feb. 20.
