VC freshman Yannick Garcia teamed up with doubles partner Jessica Moore to advance to the round of 32 in the state doubles tournament, and made the round of 64 in singles over the weekend at the state championships at The Ojai Tournament.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: The Ventura College women's tennis team opened the VC North/South Challenge with a strong 5-1 victory over College of the Sequoias on Friday afternoon. Yannick Garcia and Jessica Moore picked up an 8-3 win in No. 1 doubles before they each earned a point in Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. Karissa Coronel and Georgia Farrar won their No. 3 doubles match 8-4 and Brianna Ruton was victorious in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
The Pirates contuinue play in the VC North/South Challenge on Saturday Feb. 15 with matches against Chabot at 9:00 am and Fresno at 3:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.
