Former Pirate Sarah Garcia '17 enters her second year formally on the Pirate coaching staff. The granddaughter of head coach Steve Hoffman, she has been around the program for many years.

A 2014 graduate of Buena High School, Sarah joined the Pirates for the campaign shortly thereafter, helping lead VC to a 11-5-5 overall record and a 7-1-4 mark in Western State Conference play.  After a season-ending injury the following season, Sarah returned to the pitch in 2016 and helped lead Ventura to a 16-6-1 record, claiming the WSC title with a conference mark of 8-1-1. Sarah received first team All-WSC honors both years she played with the Pirates.

Sarah transferred to Long Beach State and earned her B.S in Kinesiology and Physical Education Teacher Development in 2021.

Sarah holds a US Soccer National "C" License and is currently enrolled in an All-Women's US Soccer National "B" License course. She also works for Cal South Olymp[ic Development Program as a head coach and program coordinator. She was invited this pas summer to join the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program in Salt Lake City.

Additionall, Sarah has completed her Coach Educator License and will join the coaching staff at Oxnard high School for the 2023-24 season.
