Women's Soccer Back in the Playoffs

Women's Soccer Back in the Playoffs

Since the inception of the VC women's soccer program in 1996, one thing has been almost a certainty, the Pirates would be playing in the post season. This season is no different. For the 26th time in the 27-season history of the program, the Pirates' women's soccer team is in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The No. 14-seeded Pirates will host No. 19 Moorpark in Thursday Nov. 16 at 7:00 pm at the VC Sportsplex.

Ventura (9-6-6) received their seed based on the strength of their schedule, despite finishing behind Moorpark (11-8-3) in the Western State Conference North Division table. The Pirates, who finished fifth in the WSCN at 4-4-4, dropped a pair of decisions to the Raiders, who were the conference runners-up at 7-2-3. VC dropped a 1-0 decision at home on Oct. 3 before falling 4-1 on Oct. 27 at Moorpark.

There are a record five teams from the WSC North in the playoffs, including No. 8 Allan Hancock, No. 5 Santa Barbara and No. 13 LA Pierce in addition to VC and MC.

In non-conference play, Moorpark is 0-6-0 against playoff teams from Northern and Southern California while Ventura is 4-1-2. The only common opponent is No. 9 Canyons, who defeated the Pirates 3-1 on Aug. 25 and defeated the Raiders 2-1 on Aug. 29.
