VC Soccer in Playoffs for 25th Time in 26 Seasons

The Ventura College women's soccer team is in familiar territory. For the 25th time in 26 seasons, the Pirates have qualified for the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs. VC (9-8-4) is seeded 18th in the draw and will travel to No. 15 Citrus (14-6-1) on Wednesday Nov. 16. Kickoff for the Pirates and Owls is set for 5:30 pm at Claremont High School.

The Pirates have persevered through a difficult season with a tough schedule. Ventura finished 7-4-1 in Western State Conference North Division play, placing fourth behind No. 7 Santa Barbara, No. 8 Los Angeles Pierce and No. 13 Allan Hancock.

Citrus, meanwhile, came in 8-5-1 i the WSC South, also finishing in fourth.

The teams met earlier this season in Glendora with the Owls coming out on top, 1-0. Ventura outshot Citrus that afternoon 8-4 but came up short in the final margin.

The winner of Wednesday's playoff game will travel to No. 2 Santiago Canyon (17-1-2) on Saturday Nov. 19.
