Women's Soccer Falls in Regular Season Finale

The Pirate soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Allan Hancock College Friday evening at the Sportsplex. Alyssa Cornwell scored Ventura's lone goal in the regular season finale. Isa Garcia totaled six saves in goal for VC (9-8-4, 7-4-1).

Cornwell converted an assist from Alexis Arrieta in the 15th minute of play to give Ventura a 1-0 advantage.

The Bulldogs leveled the score in the 30th minute, and scored the go-ahead goal in the 71st off a rebounded save by Garcia.

VC totaled nine shots in the game, four on goal, while Hancock recorded 17 shots, eight on target.

The Pirates finished fourth in the Western State Conference North Division with 22 points, two behind LA Pierce. Hancock and Santa Barbara tied for the conference title with 29 points. 

VC is looking for their 25th post-season appearance in 26 seasons when the draw is announced in the next two days. The first round of the playoffs will be Wednesday Nov. 16.
