Pirates and Brahmas Draw in Woodland Hills

The VC women's soccer team battled Los Angeles Pierce College to a 1-1 draw Tuesday afternoon in Woodland Hills. Alix Tirado scored for the Pirates (8-7-4) and Isa Garcia recorded six saves in goal to keep Ventura level with the Brahmas in third place in the Western State Conference North Division table heading into the final 10 days of the regular season.

Pierce took the initial advantage with a goal in the 22nd minute.

Tirado was able to even the score with an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute of play.

The teams continued to battle in the second half but neither was able to find the game-winner resulting in the 1-1 draw.

Both teams produced nine shots in the game with Ventura hitting six on goal while Pierce hit seven on target.

For Tirado, her score was her 17th goal of the year. Adding in six assists, she has 40 points this season.  Adding her 61 points from 2021, Tirado has now surpassed the 100-point plateau for her career with 101 total points.  That mark is good for fourth all-time in VC soccer history.

As a team, the Pirates remained in a third place tie with Pierce with 13 points, three points behind Allan Hancock and five behind Santa Barbara with two regular season contests remaining.

 VC next travels to Oxnard on Friday Nov. 4 before closing the regular season on Friday Nov. 11 at home against Hancock at 5:00 pm.
